284th Morning Reports
Usage of MR Coordiates!
So we have the 284th Morning Reports and they tell us many things, including the location of the boys. But if you didn't have the proper map those coordinates were pretty useless.
Period maps can be found here:
WWII Map Archive
The Morning Reports were even more confusion as some of the 'coordinates' made no sense UNTIL I started to experiment with something that Jennifer Holik posted about on her WWII Education page.
Go here: https://www.echodelta.net/mbs/eng-translator.php
Enter: wF114387, select Nord de Guerre Grid and hit 'convert' and you'll see that we're in Krezeau!
Following along to the next MR, enter wF316450 and you'll see that we end up in Lechenich as stated on the report!
Happy exploring and thank you Jennifer!
**NOTE: this only works with these types of grids! Some of our Morning Reports use specific maps (we do have some of them) and this technique will not help you for that.
